Perfect Ambience for a Night Out with Good Friends
Eight of us had the great pleasure of dining at Jack's Grill this winter. On a cold and bleak evening, we entered into the warm and friendly room and had an wonderful evening! The restaurant is unpretentious and inviting. Perfect ambiance for a night out with good friends.
We started off with cocktails - they have an excellent selection of single malt scotches. We had a selection of appetizers and shamelessly tasted each other's - Excellent!
Our waiter was attentive, helpful, and unobtrusive and knowledgeable. With 8 people we had a variety of entrées and appetizers and were all pleased with our choices. The wine pairing was very nice - excellent suggestions from owner Mark Goodwin.
I had the rack of lamb and thought it was superb. It was cooked perfectly and was accompanied by red wine sauce that I really enjoyed. Though I was already quite full, I indulged in a warm chocolate and Jack Daniel dessert that was to die for!!!
My only regret is that I waited so long to go to Jack's Grill! I hope to go back often.

Great Dinner!
Hi guys- had a great dinner. Food was lick your plate quality but service was even better with Sandy. We really appreciated her attention, recommendations and humour. Thanks for a great night.

Chef for a Day - Fundraiser for Kids with Cancer
Jack's Grill made several children from the Kids With Cancer Society whose dreams were to become chefs come true. The "chefs for the day" prepared gourmet pizzas, amazing mac and cheese and over the top banana splits. Flour was flying, dough was kneaded, machines were whirring and eveyone had such a wonderful day. The children then served their parents and themselves the feast they prepared.
Special thanks to Mark and his staff for an incredible afternoon of fun, comraderie, and delicious food our children and their parents will cherish.

Very creative, often have game on special but you can get a steak here too. Never had a bad meal here. Love the paper table cloths and crayons, just a hint of casual to take the edge off the Haute cuisine.
Good wine list, interesting staff, and the owner is just enough of a SOB to keep the standards very high.

"The flavour was amazing"
This was a place that I'd been meaning to get around to. I'm glad that on Friday night I remembered about it! I heard about it because it's one of the Original Fare restaurants, and I've been making a point of eating at all of them."Original Fare is a select group of independent restaurants committed to promoting, preserving and protecting culinary diversity. Original Fare restaurants are independently owned and operated and offer original, diverse, authentic dining experiences you just can't get anywhere else!"I wasn't sure what to expect going inside, but it was much nicer then I thought. It was dimly lit and warm. The decor was simple and contemporary. It was also much larger then I had expected. The twist that I enjoyed a lot was that amidst this classy restaurant... Each table had a sheet of white paper on it, with a glass of crayons. I've seen this at a lot of places... Just not anywhere NICE!Tim said, "so this is where the rich people take their families to dinner..."We started with a half litre of red, and they brought us some bread - half white and half multi-grain. The service was quite attentive and helpful. We decided to start with the soup for that day, which was a mushroom soup. I liked this a lot because while I love mushrooms, I do not like cream soups. Generally mushroom soups are always a cream soup. This one, however, was a clear soup. They even let Tim and I split it, without issue.The choice for my entree was quite easy. As soon as I saw that they had duck on the menu, my choice was made. I LOVE a good duck dish. It was the 'Pairing of Crisp Duck Breast and Garlic, Sage Duck Sausage' with chive croquette potatoes, cassis gastrique. I was very pleased with this dish! The duck was cooked to medium-rare perfection. The flavour was amazing. The sausage was also very nice, and had a little kick to it. One of the best parts were the incredible croquettes, which just melted in your mouth after a crispy exterior. I ended up sharing a lot with Tim because it was too good just to keep to myself!Tim had the 'Truffle, Ricotta and Wild Mushroom Lasagna' with a tomato and basil salad, Béchamel and Pomodoro sauce. It was also very tasty, and the portion was actually quite large - which tends to be rare in more up-scale places.We made sure to leave room for desert!'Jack's Bread Pudding' caught our eye. Rich raisin and vanilla flavoured bread pudding, caramelized with rum sauce and whipped cream. It was sweet and decadent. Perfect end to a great meal!

Simply the best food around!! My lamb was cooked to perfection, and paired perfectly with a morel mushroom stew. The service was exceptional, without being snotty. this ... a user of Restaurantica.

Awesome!Coming from Toronto, I was skeptical of a restaurant in a strip mall. But on my bosses recommendation, I decided to give Jack’s a try. It was hard to get to because of construction, but well worth the effort. My lobster and flank steak duo was to die for!! The prawn appetizer was exceptional, and the by the glass pairing suggestions were spot on. I felt welcome in a way I have never feel in Toronto. Looking around the room, it seemed like I wasn't the only one feeling positive about my experience. The service was enthusiastic and knowledgeable but not pretentious in any way. I won't be ale to return to Edmonton for at least six months, and am sad, because I can't wait to eat at Jack’s Grill again. What a breath of fresh air!!!
